Services summary:
As an Inpatient Occupational Therapist at Downtown Hospital, I
evaluate and treat patients using a variety of therapeutic
interventions for rehabilitation of physical and developmental
disorders. I ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation program is
designed to meet the patients' physical, cognitive, and
psychosocial needs while promoting independence and
self-determination. My role involves coordinating with various
disciplines to achieve discharge goals and advocating for patient
and family well-being, especially in pediatric care settings.
Overview: -Our Downtown Hospital InPatient Rehab Department is
seeking a Occupational Therapist (OT) to evaluate patients
regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic
interventions for rehabilitation of physical and developmental
disordersType of Opportunity: Full Time FTE: 1.0 (40

Degree in Occupational Therapy essential, Masters degree
preferred.Occupational Therapist requires detailed knowledge of
occupational therapy in terms of what and how work is to be done as
well as why it is done, this level includes interpretation of
data.Basic computer skills required.Basic understanding of the
rules and regulations of the specificsettingLess than one year
experience in occupational therapy.BLS certification REQUIRED at
time of hirePediatric Physical TherapistOccupational Therapist: Two
years of experience providing infant/child developmental services
preferred.Competency or validation of participation in pediatric
and NICU education and formal training and/or mentoring
Responsibilities: Evaluates and treats patients regarding the
application of a wide variety of therapeutic interventions for
rehabilitation of function/occupation and developmental disorders.
Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and
development over the life span of patients servedOversees and
insures a comprehensive rehabilitation program designed to meet the
physical, cognitive, psychosocial, and immediate environmental
well-being of the patientPromotes patient/caregiver
self-determination by optimizing outside resource utilization to
achieve the highest level of independence.Coordinates and
communicates with various disciplines or services involved in
patient care. Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals
established at initial evaluation and during episode of care. Is a
patient advocate.Other duties as assigned.Settings may include
inpatient, outpatient, long term care, community based care and
home health carePediatric Occupational Therapist the following also
apply:Provide direct patient care and/or consultative services for
children, teens, and infants in the PICU, PEDs oncology unit and
the premature and/or medically complex infants in the Neonatal
intensive care unit (NICU). -Must demonstrate knowledge of the
principles of growth and development over the life span of babies
and children served. -Oversees and ensures a comprehensive
rehabilitation program designed to meet the physical,
neurodevelopmental outcomes, supports infant/child mental health
and immediate environmental well-being of the infant/child.
-Promotes infant/caregiver/parent self-determination by optimizing
outside resource utilization to achieve the highest level of
independence. -Nurture the infant-family dyad. -Coordinates and
communicates with various disciplines or services involved in the
infants/child's care. Coordinates efforts toward discharge goals
established at initial evaluation and during episode of care. -Is
an infant, child, and family advocate. -This is an advanced
practice area and not appropriate for COTA or New graduate OT.
