Department: Care Management Admin FTE: 1.00 Full Time Shift:

outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases and 100,000 emergency room
visits each year." Position Summary: Responsible for the ongoing
development, direction, supervision and administration of Care
Management, Social Work, Infusion and Hospice. Serve as the primary
collaborator between department directors, hospital administrators
and physicians. Develop strategic and operational plans for areas
of responsibility. Support education and research. Develop and
maintain collaborative relationships with medical and healthcare
system staff to ensure effective, results-oriented outcomes. Assure
quality of care, cost effectiveness and optimal performance of
personnel. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies
and procedures. No patient care assignment. Detailed
responsibilities: * DIRECTION - Provide guidance, mentorship, and
leadership to managers and staff * BUDGET - Provide leadership in
preparing budgets with managers and medical directors * STAFF
DEVELOPMENT - Establish competencies, training sessions, education
programs for staff and managers; promote staff satisfaction and
recognition activities * ANALYSIS - Conduct regular or continual
analysis of staffing, quality assurance, management review, budget
reviews and performance evaluations * PATIENT SATISFACTION -
Develop and implement patient care systems to maintain maximum
efficiency, high patient satisfaction and quality at the lowest
operational cost; design procedures to support increased patient
satisfaction * COMPLIANCE - Ensure compliance with all regulatory
agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of
accrediting bodies by continually monitoring Hospital operations
and programs and physical properties; initiate changes as required
* IMPROVEMENTS - Recommend changes for improvement in program
content and in short/long-range planning in order to maintain
competitiveness in the healthcare market * EDUCATION - Educate
medical staff, managers and Health Sciences Center staff in
monitoring, evaluating and improving clinical quality of care and
regulatory compliance * RESOURCES - Coordinate and evaluate the use
of resources and services in a quality-conscious, cost effective
manner and collaborate with appropriate providers to ensure
effective, quality outcomes * STRATEGIC PLANNING - Assist in the
strategic planning of both short- and long-range plans * POLICY &
PROCEDURE - Responsible for the area hospital policy and procedure
development, revision, and implementation * STANDARDS - Actively
participate in organizational wide nursing directives, and ensures
dissemination of information and education to staff by partnering
with the unite based educators (UBEs ) and Clinical Education
department * SERVICE - Attend and serve on professional/civic
service organizations as a UNM Hospitals representative *
SUPERVISION - Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise
employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct
deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel,
schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth
initiatives * DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and
development through participation in educational programs, reading
current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops *
PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies,
procedures and protocols * PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive
approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve
patient safety through questioning of current policies and
processes * PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct
environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient
at undue risk * PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual
patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a
timely manner * PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively
participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting
treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem
right" Qualifications Education: Essential: * Master's Degree
Nonessential: * Doctorate Degree Education specialization:
Essential: * MSN or DNP Nonessential: * Nursing Experience:
Essential: 4 years directly related experience Nonessential: No
preferred experience Credentials: Essential: * RN in NM or as
allowed by reciprocal agreement w/in 60 days Physical Conditions:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of
force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or
more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are
in excess of those for Sedentary Work. May require walking or
standing to a significant degree or requires sitting most of the
time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls;
and/or may require working at a production rate pace entailing the
constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight
